National Education Policy 2020:India revamps its Education Policy after 34 years
The new National Education Policy (NEP) was approved by the Union Cabinet on Wednesday. The new Policy will on 5+3+3+4 format unlike what the old format of 10+2.
The certain highlight of this new policy is, mother tongue/ Regional Language will be implemented until 5th grade. Multidisciplinary Education in terms of flexibility to subject. Coding & vocational studies to carry out from class 6. Board exams will be low stakes to test the actual knowledge. Report cards to be based on skills and capabilities.
Single regulatory for a higher education institution.Multiple entries and exit option in degree courses.The common entrance exam forUniversity.Discontinuation of MPhil programme. Higher Education to be regulated on common fee fixation for public and private institutions.
New education policy was the poll promise of the BJP in 2014. The first draft was submitted in Dec 2018 by the former ISRO chief K. Kasturirangan who headed the panel.
